Offered here is the exact 2018-Z China Moon Festival Panda Jade Edition Three-Piece Silver Medal Set pictured, with all three pieces certified by NGC in perfect 70 grades and carrying the desirable First Releases designation. This is the complete three-piece silver configuration of the 2018 Moon Festival Panda Jade Edition, consisting of the 88-gram Silver Proof, 1 oz Silver Proof, and 1 oz Silver Mint State / Uncirculated medal. This complete silver set had a worldwide mintage of only 1,888 sets. The 2018 release is especially notable within the Moon Festival Panda series because it marked the first time the series incorporated genuine white jade gemstones into its silver medals, with the jade forming the luminous full moon within the panda designs. The Moon Festival Panda series began in 2015 and features annually changing designs celebrating China’s traditional Mid-Autumn, or Moon, Festival. Each medal was struck in. Together, the three pieces contain approximately 4.829 troy ounces of total silver-medal weight, combining the substantial 88-gram Proof with the two one-ounce issues. The 88-gram Proof features a panda climbing among bamboo while gazing toward the inset white-jade moon. At 88 grams, this is the largest and most visually imposing piece in the three-medal silver set. It has been certified by NGC as PF70 Ultra Cameo, the highest possible numeric Proof grade. The 1 oz Proof also incorporates the white-jade moon into a panda-and-bamboo composition and features deeply mirrored fields contrasted against frosted design elements. This example is likewise certified NGC PF70 Ultra Cameo. The one-ounce Proof had an individual worldwide edition limit of only 1,888 pieces. The 1 oz Mint State medal features two pandas, one climbing bamboo and another below, both looking toward the inset white-jade moon. This example received NGC’s highest possible Mint State grade of MS70. The Mint State version was separately limited to 2,888 pieces worldwide. The common reverse design depicts the Great Wall of China together with an astronomical motif representing the ancient Chinese map of the heavens, reinforcing the lunar theme of the series. The medals were produced at the Shenzhen Mint / Shenzhen Guobao Mint, and the “Z” attribution identifies the Shenzhen issue. GreatCollections and Heritage both catalog 2018-Z Moon Festival Panda medals as Shenzhen Guobao Mint products. All three examples also carry NGC’s First Releases designation, indicating that they were received by NGC or an NGC-approved depository within the first 30 days of release.
